Slope flyers, March 21, 2004
Having been invited to experience a new side of soaring, Steve Fujikawa, Jim
Prouty, Susan & Roger Edwards all bundle up in warm clothing, made their way out
to western Maryland for one of the most memorable days in their lives to enjoy
the raw power of the wind first hand. Our only regret was not
getting a photo of Susan flying that day !
Just for the record, the wind speed recorded on the ridge that day was a nominal
15 to 20 mph gushing upward to 30 mph, the air temperature was in the low to mid
40's (F). You figure out the wind chill, but it was lost in the all the
excitement !
Use the two
arrows to navigate thru the photos and then click on the desired photo to

Jim Prouty, standing on the edge of the ridge as the wind blows past him, is kept warm not just by his heavy parker coat but also his love of flying !
Steve Fujikawa, working the sticks of his transmitter to uses the free flowing energy of the wind to perform some very impressive aerobatics !
Roger Edwards, looking over the majestic view of west Maryland just before launching his bird into the wind.
Just look at that surrounding view !
Steve, Roger & Bert Magin sharing similar dreams as they work their birds along the ridge.
Roger standing alone, enjoying his first day slope flying !
Steve on the edge by himself having a blast with his bird on the wind !
